recipe haikus.

I like haikus and all but I've never been really good at them. But I was motivated to make one about root vegetables, and then I stumbled onto a new genre...recipe haikus!

here's a good salad
spinach beets goat cheese walnuts
with orange vinaigrette

take corn tortillas
add black beans avocados
sprinkle with feta

to make an omelette
you need some butter and eggs
the rest is tricky

you will need some bread
peanut butter and jelly
you know the rest, right?

I'm having trouble thinking of more simple recipes, but it's a start.

A toad in a hole
Break in middle of toast
And fry on each side

It's called a toad in a hole?

It has, like, fifteen different names. That's what my mother called it. My father called it a one-eyed-Jack. I've also seen it called Egg in a Nest and Egg in a Basket. Who knows. It's yummy, that's all I know.

Your recipe haikus are great! An original idea, well executed. I have a question about the haikus. I am writing a paper where I comment on different text genres and I would like to use your haikus to demonstrate a point.

Please could you e-mail me.
